The information distributed by social networks and mass media on the takeover of Metinvest Group’s Enakiieve Steel (EMZ) by pro-Russian protesters has no substance. Everything runs well at EMZ: the production rhytm was not violated, and the plant operates as usual.
Starting 12:00 pm on 4 May, about 500 pro-Russian activists held a mass-meeting close to Enakieeve Steel’s main office. Aleksandr Podkorytov, General Director of EMZ, spoke to workers for an hour. He confirmed that each steelmaker had right to express and to defend any opinions and political beliefs during the off-duty time. At the same time, Mr. Podkorytov called the protesters not to break the plant’s production rhytm as, first of all, it may hurt the employees and their families. Presently there are no protesters at EMZ’ guard desks and main office.
