Yenakiieve Steel, Metinvest Group, and “The Fund of Personal Enhancement”, town youth social organisation, opened the first Child Development Centre based on unique practice by Maria Montessori. The project was implemented in the framework of the social corporate programme “We improve our town with our own hands”-2012. The means allocated by Metinvest for centre organisation amounted to UAH 50 000.
The Child Development Centre based on the unique practice by M. Montessori was placed in a classroom of Educational Establishment No.37, Yenakievo. To provide young citizens an opportunity for comfortable and easy world exploration, social activists made capital repair of the classroom. Project initiators used funds of the programme “We improve our town with our own hands” to buy furniture, didactic literature and visual materials. From now on each Saturday 14 children aged 3 to 6 will be able to develop individual “Achievements Record” under guidance of an experienced educator and by means of special didactic literature.
“The idea to create a child development centre based on practice by Italian educator M. Montessory in Yenakievo has been running in my mind for two years since my maternity leave started, - says Maria Klimnyuk, the initiator of the project who works at Yenakiieve Steel. – But I had no clear vision, no partners, no means to bring the idea to life. It is truly said that if the idea is destined to turn into reality necessary backing will come from far and wide. I came across information in the newspaper published by the Works about Metinvest programme “We improve our town with our own hands”. I decided to participate in it by all means. While preparing the project I have found the partners. That was “The Fund of Personal Enhancement”, youth social organisation of Yenakievo who provided me a prepared room. At the same time a teacher Kristina Goncharova who has an appropriate education (certificate of AMI Association Maria Montessori Centre in Moscow) and working experience applying this practice, came back to Yenakievo. Combination of these three major components has produced the first project in Yenakievo as Child Development Centre. Today is its official opening. The pilot group of six children has already been gathered. And I am sure that till the end of the year we will double this number.”

That means we are funding the future, the future of our town and our works.”
It should be reminded that there are five winning projects of the competition “We improve our town with our own hands”-2012. These are: Park of Arts arrangement at the surrounding area of Tchaikovsky School of Arts in Yenakievo, small mobile playground with water playsets for children in Yelenovka residential area, brand new playground at Vatutina residential area, replacement of windows in nursery and pre-school establishment «Topoloek» (a small poplar) and establishment of children development club based on the unique practice by Maria Montessori. The overall budget of the competition in 2012 amounted to UAH 350 000.
