16 November 2012
On November, 16th 2012 “Troops of well-doing”, a voluntary campaign of Metinvest Group, started in Yenakiievo and Makiivka. The goal of this activity is to do what people can on a voluntary basis and to back social establishments in these towns. “Troops of well-doing” campaign is the first step in implementing a new consistent social programme of Metinvest, which is called “Corporate volunteering”.
PJSC Yenakiieve Steel leads this campaign in Yenakiievo and Makiivka. Eight teams were created among the employees of the enterprise’s structural units, and one of these teams is spearheaded by Alexander Podkorytov, Yenakiieve Steel General Director. “I express my gratitude to all of you who volunteered to take part in such a good cause as “Troops of well-doing”, - addressed Alexander Leonidovich to the “troops” during the kick-off meeting, where all teams were given their missions. – I am strongly convinced that one must never underestimate the power of the seemingly smallest well-doings. Goods things are remembered for years to come, no matter of their size. But the most valuable in doing good things is that it is contagious. Today the number of people who are ready to devote their sinews and soul to help some orphans, the old, the sick and just lonely people is less than hundred so far. But tomorrow hundreds of people can join us, and then some more thousands of them and we will see that more lives will be lighted up.”
Areas for well-doings were determined in the course of preparatory work. Thus assistance will be rendered to the boarding schools, the orphan home, the social rehabilitation school and to the enterprise’s long service employees in Yenakiieve and Uglegorsk. The Group of volunteers from Makiivka will help the kindergarten No.2
All teams will pass three stages. During the first one, which is called “Handy-man”, team members will help to solve welfare problems of beneficiaries: they will be engaged in repairs of premises and landscaping. At the second stage volunteers will give tours and workshops for the children from boarding schools and orphan homes, and during the third one they will try their hand at being fairy godmothers and will make the dearest wishes to come true.
Extra points will be added to the total score not only for the missions completed, but for the well-doings initiated by the teams of their own free will. Moreover, engaging of the volunteers’ family members to the campaign is welcomed.
Results of this campaign are to be expected in the mid-December. Then teams will be given with certificates for different sum of money, which they can earmark for charity.
It should be noted that more than 900 volunteers of Metinvest from 11 cities and towns of company’s presence (Donetsk, Avdeyevka, Yenakiievo, Komsomolskoye, Krasnodon, Krivoy Rog, Makiivka, Mariupol, Novgorodskoye, Khartsyzsk and Petrovsky district of Kirovogradskaya oblast) take part in the “Troops of well-doing” campaign.
The idea of this campaign appeared as a result of the recent social survey, which has elicited that a large number of Metinvest employees take active part in charity programmes. The most active employees of the company offer their own charity programmes, starting from fund-raising on to volunteering projects out. Given such a success in charity and, being aware of the importance of supporting and developing the same-like initiatives, the Company’s management has decided to elaborate and introduce a volunteering programme for the employees of Metinvest Group assets. And implementation of the “Troops of well-doing” campaign is the first step.
