Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works, Metinvest Group, has broadened finished rolled products mix. Currently it is possible to produce 12-m shaped sections for machine industry and shipbuilding at the rolling mill 550, whereas previously it used to serve for production of 3- up to 9 meters rolled products.
The major overhaul of the cooling bed area allowed extending the production capabilities of the heavy section mill 550. The key option of repair works lies in installation of an additional third chain conveyor which allows rolling the products with length up to 12 meters. Furthermore, during five months of carrying out the overhaul, cable routes and control panels were updated. The project investments amounted to UAH 4.5 mln.

In an effort to win over each customer we are turning to produce those kinds of rolled products which have never been common for us, – highlighted Alexander Podkorytov, General Director of PJSC Yenakiieve Steel. – The conventional types of products, manufactured at the rolling mill 550, were 3-9m rolled products. Merely during the first week of November we produced more than one thousand tonnes of 12-m long products, namely channels and beam No.12.”
It should be reminded that nowadays more than 20 types of shapes and sections are produced at rolling mill 550. These are channels, beams, angles, rail fastening clips, bulb flats and narrow gauge rails.
