Yenakiieve Steel, Metinvest Group, purchased brand-new special equipment for Yenakiievo Technical Metallurgic School (YTMS). Laboratory of specialised educational establishment was fitted with the two temperature and pressure calibrators within the framework of “Town-Works” agreement in amount of UAH 55K.
Mobile temperature calibrator ТР18200Е and manual pump (pressure calibrator) of SIKA company (Germany) are installed in the metrology and production automation laboratory of YTMS. New equipment will enable students, mastering speciality “Process automation equipment installation and maintenance”, to learn Works-oriented checking and calibration procedures in an efficient way.
«Our educational establishment has been training specialists in steelmaking for already 83 years, - told Nikolay Podolsky, Head of Yenakiievo Technical Metallurgical School. - Our educational programme foresees not only studying nuts and bolts of steelmaking, but familiairising students with new technologies. Unfortunately, kitting-out of our laboratories is very poor, major part of all devices is obsolete and deteriorated, and, moreover, we don’t have almost any possibility to buy up-to-date equipment and visual aids. During the last 10 years Yenakiieve Steel sees fundamental retrofitting, new state-of-the-art objects with high automation level are being built. And it is obvious that such equipment must be operated and maintained by the skilled technicians. But, for example, our students have to measure temperature and pressure accuracy by means of fossil, cumbersome У-shaped gauges, whereas in Thermal Instrumentation and Control Shop of Yenakiieve Steel, they already use advanced calibrators. Therefore, due to this very reason we addressed our request on purchasing calibrators equal to those being used in the Works to the Company management».
Service calibrators SIKA are designed to calibrate temperature and pressure under any conditions and they are user-friendly. Portability (weight is 4.2 kg) and measurement accuracy are calibrators’ specific features.
«To tackle production tasks our Company requires new blood. Knowledge and skills of young workers must satisfy our technical and management needs, - pointed out Aleksandr Podkorytov, Yenakiieve Steel General Director. - However book knowledge of the former students lags behind present-day practice, and enterprise has to spend a lot of time and money for such a student to become a real employee. To escape this trap we asked management of the spesialised educational establishments to bring training programmes for future steelmakers into conformity with enterprise needs, in parallel creating comfortable conditions for students to be studied more efficiently».
It should be reminded that in 2009 Yenakiieve Steel bought two microprocessor-based controllers MIK-25 and MIK-51, meant for automation control and processes management, for automation equipment laboratory, YTMS.
