Yenakiive Steel signed an agreement on social and economic partnership with Makiivka city authorities

7 June 2012

Yenakiieve Steel, Metinvest Group, implements its social policy in the regions, where it operates, in line with the plan. For the first time in the Works’ history an agreement “Town-Works” on social and economic partnership for 2012 between Yenakiieve Steel management and Makiivka city council has been signed. This bilateral agreement not only stipulates principles, forms, fields of cooperation and mutual liabilities of the parties on Makiivka social and economic development, but also specifies a string of activities.

According to the document, authority and business cooperation is focused on such top-priority aspects as town infrastructure development, health and environmental protection, education level improvement, as well as mass sports and healthy way of life promotion. In 2012 within the framework of this agreement UAH 2m is foreseen to implement projects virtually in all above stated aspects.

Fundamental principles of the «Town-Works» agreement are based on voluntary participation of the parties and their equal partnership. In the course of the projects approval heed will be paid to consistency of approaches used for city development priorities determination, to intentions and joint cooperation longtermness as well as to cooperation publicity and transparency.

«Hardly more than a year ago Yenakiieve Steel Makiivka Branch was established, and since then creation of comfort living conditions for Makiivka residents became one of the top priorities of our activity, -- pointed out Aleksandr Podkorytov, Yenakiieve Steel General Director. — Starting from the first steps of our work we found a common language with city authorities by having taken part in some activities. This year Yenakiieve Steel joined traditional «Makiivka spring» competition, and plan of the specific activities with funding capacity of million hryvnas was drawn up. I am sure that Metinvest’s programmes of regional development can bring a considerable social benefit».

It worth mentioning that in 2011 total scope of Yenakiieve Steel investments into Makiivka amounted to more than UAH 500k.
