The most ambitious project of Yenakiieve Iron and Steel Works (Yenakiieve Steel), Metinvest Group, that is New Sinter Plant Construction, moved to the next phase. During second half of 2012 our Company will be implementing “Design for Permitting” stage, which foresees a string of technical and economical activities. Metinvest has increased project investments for Sinter Plant construction at Yenakiieve Steel by USD 110M to introduce innovative environmental technologies.
New Sinter Plant Construction at Yenakiieve Steel investment project was launched in 2008 and passed through two implementation stages. Over four-years period investments technical and economical feasibility study has been completed, which was the basis to determine main equipment supplier — Siemens VAI (Austria). At the same time SE Ukrgipromez has developed the Preliminary Engineering, where layout of new sinter plant objects at the Master Plan of enterprise was taken into account. Now Yenakiieve Steel is fulfilling the «Desing for Permitting» stage (FEL-3), the bottom line of which is to prepare site for objects construction, to develop Basic Engineering, and to pass different expert evaluations. Metinvest allocated USD 10M to implement FEL-3 stage.
It is worth reminding that New Sinter Plant Construction at Yenakiieve Steel foresees building of a brand new Sinter Plant complex being in compliance with all state-of-the-art ecological and technical and economical requirements. New large scale object will allow Yenakiieve Steel to double sinter production while reducing air emissions tenfold. This project is being implemented within the framework of Investment Programme of Metinvest Group’s assets Technological Development. Sinter plant start-up is scheduled for 2016. Total project investments are estimated in amount of USD 250M. However given the environmental part of the project being of the most importance, Metinvest decided to increase (new Sinter Plant construction at Yenakiieve Steel) project budget due to application of the most cutting-edge and reliable technology of waste gases cleaning -- MEROS, as well construction of the covered materials storage.
