Metinvest systematically carries out the social initiatives, aimed at Yenakiievo Healthcare System improving. The company has allocated more than UAH 100 th for the X-ray equipment repair at “Town Hospital No.2 of Yenakiievo”. The allocations were performed within the framework of “Town - Works” Agreement implementation, concluded between Yenakiievo Municipal Council and PJSC Yenakiieve Steel.
The X-ray unit «Prestilix-1600Х» was out of operation for almost 3 years due to malfunction of the generator. The up-to-date repair of the unit was complicated not only by lack of funding, but also by the criticality of breakdown itself. Even after means allocation for «Prestilix-1600Х» major repair by Yenakiieve Steel (in December 2011), almost half a year was needed to resume the operation of the X-ray complex.
It should be noted that the «Prestilix-1600Х» unit itself was also purchased for Yenakiieve Steel means 20 years ago. The unit is equipped with digital system by General Electric (USA), which allows carrying out an X-ray examination of almost all the organs and systems in a digital format. Besides, the unit ensures high resolution which improves the quality of examination, and the structure of all organs and systems looks sharper. This simplifies the work of radiologist and allows determining pathology in more details and making an accurate diagnosis. The unit has a lot of advantages: it is operated by means of remote control, has multi-function properties (it can be lifted and lowered together with bed patients). It is considerably important for diagnostics of seriously ill patients. Besides, the unit has a minimal zero radiation exposure both to the patient and to the medical staff.
Two computerized job places (for laboratory assistant and a doctor) help to store the data base and rewrite the examination results and specialists conclusions to a removable medium — disks or memory sticks for a patient to keep. High quality pictures, made by multi-format camera, can be printed out from the digital cassette.
In the same time the routine repair of another X-ray unit «Roentgen-40» was provided with replacement of its electrical communication arrangement.
«Our Department of X-ray Examination has 11 permanent and mobile X-ray units of different reliability categories, — said Ivan Kolesnikov, Chief Doctor of Municipal Medical and Preventative Institution «Town hospital No.2 of Yenakiievo». — However of all the X-ray equipment available have been purchased during Soviet times, therefore some of them show so called age-related problems. Still it is impossible to settle these matters with such a poor funding that we have. We are grateful to Yenakiieve Steel Management, who always responds to our pleas for help and finds means to resolve vital issues of our medical institution».

Not so long ago we have provided an oncologic dispensary with up-to-date equipment and opened an overhauled health unit for workers of Yenakiieve Steel. Today in the framework of «Town — Works» Agreement the new X-ray unit will be put into operation. I am sure that since present moment health professionals of Yenakiievo have no obstacles in providing their services for much more patients.»
It should be reminded that for the last six month Metinvest allocated UAH 1.3 m for Yenakiievo Healthcare System improvement.
