METINVEST completed the first competition for the best social project in Yenakiievo that was held in the framework of the corporate and social programme “We improve our town with our own hands”. The final stage of this activity, being implemented by PJSC “Yenakiieve Steel” in Yenakiievo, was agreements signing with the winners of the competition. Overall budget of the competition amounted to UAH 200 000.
The competition was conducted in three stages and 15 applications from citizen's action groups, public organisations and municipal authorities of Yenakiievo were put in to take part in it. As the result the expert council selected four projects pressing for the town, and the main topic of which was a healthy way of life. Thus, three projects of Yenakiievo organisations foresee arrangement of sport objects: swimming pull revamping, outdoor training facilities installation to be equipped with anti-hun protection and boxing hall roof repair.
Public organisation “Healthy and Free Way of Life - XXI” chose an equally important direction. The Yenakiievo social activists intend to create a club “The isle” where they will work with children from the risk social groups (streets children, children from deprived families, children without parental care). The project suggests organisation of active leisure for children, within the framework of which the young citizens of Yenakiievo will be able to explore journalism, publishing children newspaper “Healthy Way of Life”, or show their acting abilities in a theatre school. Everyone will also be able to pass computer courses, become participants of sports tournaments and other public events. And the great attention will be given to providing social-psychological support: children will have thematic meetings and trainings.
It should be mentioned that the infrastructural competition, which launched in April 2011, was built on the cooperation basis, i.e. the citizens could independently state the issues of concern, prove their relevancy for the town and offer the ways of their solution. METINVEST made itself responsible for the funding of Yenakiievo citizens’ offers - UAH 50 000 for each project. Moreover, METINVEST reserves the right to monitor the projects and control spending of funds. All the projects must be implemented within 6 months after signing of the agreements.
